One of the first questions (okay--maybe third or fourth) I get asked when someone finds out I am a taxidermist is whether or not I've been to Deyrolle. Sadly, no. I've never been to Paris. Since 18321, the Parisian store Deyrolle has been known for it's amazing natural history collection--insects, shells, and taxidermy.
In Early 2008 a fire devastated Deyrolle and destroyed much of it's collection. This book, 1000 Degrees by Laurent Bochet documents the event, and was released in September to correspond with the reopening of the store.
